Hollywood has gone to great lengths to make the pump totally macho. One shuck from the good guy, and the bad boys run for cover. Well, what happens when the pump gun goes female? That’s we wanted to find out with the first review of the Ithaca Model 37 With Ladies Stock. Ithaca went to great pains to find out the best dimensions for this type of bird gun and then cut some walnut to fit. In our Peer Review, some experienced women shooters tell you what they think of the two versions we shot. Even our Publisher, Irwin Greenstein, felt comfortable enough in his masculinity to shoot them. Check out our story by clicking on http://www.shotgunlife.com/.

How can Jerry Sinkovec get solid breaks on clay targets with a 28-gauge shotgun out to 60 yards? A lot of it has to do with altitude, air temperature and humidity. You’d never think that the environment (other than wind) could affect your choice of choke, but Jerry, who lives at 4,700 feet, shows you how sensitive shot can be to the elements we take for granted – and how your choice of a choke can be determined by facets other than distance. Check out this must-read story from Jerry at http://www.shotgunlife.com/.

Shotgun Life kicked off July with a new monthly column by veteran writer, Lisa Metheny, called “Lisa Metheney’s Women Afield©.”

In her first piece, Lisa writes about the NRAs’ Women on Target (WOT) program. Lisa and the group of women are pheasant hunting at the Granite Springs Lodge in South Dakota, accompanied this time by Michelle Scheuermann of The Sportsman’s Channel (TSC), where they were producing an episode for TSC’s “Wingshooting Adventures.”

Lisa’s Shotgun Life column will feature new articles the first of every month that highlight women in the shotgunning community. Lisa is big supporter of the NRA’s WOT and Women’s Wilderness Escape (WWE) programs. Since Shotgun Life’s readership is comprised 37% of women – the highest in the industry – we continue to evangelize women in the shotgun sports.

Visit Lisa’s column at http://www.shotgunlife.com/ and scroll down a bit.
