‘Sometime bat problems first start out by other critters such as raccoons, squirrels, rats, mice and birds causing some damage to your homes roof, soffits or fascia. When do a complete inspection and identify all problems in your homes condition and can do the animal damage repair services necessary to not only keep bats out but all other invading wildlife critters too!

Most bat problems usually start with one problem and simply removing the bats is rarely the answer to stopping a bat problem. Most builders know how to build watertight homes but frequently they leave large enough holes (3/8’s inch) which allow the bats to enter your home or attic at anytime. We know how to stop bats once and for all without even harming them by performing a complete inspection, properly closing off these areas and doing a bat exclusion

We trap moles, control moles and remove moles damaging yards, grass, lawn and turf. In every sense of the word we know how to trap moles and give you a mole free lawn environment. We do not use poisons and pesticides and do it the natural and most proven method by using some of the finest mole traps in the professional mole trapping & mole control industry.
Warsaw Mole Control

Moles: Biology and Behavior
Moles are very small mammals that live most of their entire lives underground. Moles are rarely ever seen other then the damage they eave in lawns. Moles and their damage are easily confused with other small mammals like voles, pocket gophers, mice, shrews, and ground squirrels.
The most conspicuous features of the mole are its greatly enlarged, paddlelike forefeet and prominent toenails, which enable it to “swim” through the soil. Moles have strong legs, short necks and elongated heads. They lack external ears, and their eyes are so small that at first glance they appear to be missing.
A mole’s fur is soft and brownish to grayish with silver highlights. When brushed, the fur offers no resistance in either direction, enabling the mole to travel either backward or forward within burrows.
Moles prefer moist, sandy loam soils in lawns, gardens, pastures and woodlands. They generally avoid heavy, dry clay soils. They construct extensive underground passageways — shallow surface tunnels for spring, summer and fall; deep, permanent tunnels for winter use. Nest cavities are located underground, connecting with the deep tunnels.
Because moles have high energy requirements, they have large appetites. They can eat 70 to 80 percent of their weight daily. They actively feed day and night at all times of the year. Moles feed on mature insects, snail larvae, spiders, small vertebrates, earthworms, and occasionally small amounts of vegetation. Earthworms and white grubs are preferred foods.
Mole activity in lawns or fields usually shows up as ridges of upheaved soil. The ridges are created where the runways are constructed as the animals move about foraging for food. Burrowing activity occurs year-round, but peaks during warm, wet months. Some of these tunnels are used as travel lanes and may be abandoned immediately after being dug. Mounds of soil called molehills may be brought to the surface of the ground as moles dig deep, permanent tunnels and nest cavities.
Moles breed in late winter or spring and have a gestation period of about four to six weeks. Single annual litters of two to five young are born in March, April or May. Young moles are born hairless and helpless, but growth and development occur rapidly. About four weeks after birth, the moles leave the nest and fend for themselves.
Moles in the natural environment cause little damage. They are seldom noticed until their tunneling activity becomes apparent in lawns, gardens, golf courses, pastures, or other grass and turf areas.
Mole Activity
The mole activity people usually see is of two kinds — raised ridges or surface tunnels and mounds. These raised ridges or surface tunnels are unique to moles. No other animal leaves this evidence of its presence. However, mole activity often is confused with that of the pocket gopher, which also is found in Missouri.
Moles leave cone-shaped mounds on the surface of the ground. These usually are not numerous. Most often these mounds contain coarse soil and earth clods.
The mole pushes this soil to the surface, especially when digging deep runs. These deep runs lead to a nest or provide tunnels for use in the winter or during the hot times of the summer. In building these mounds, the mole pushes the soil up through the center, much as a volcano is formed.
Moles push dirt through vertical tunnels onto the surface. Mounds are good places to use fumigants, since they are believed to mark deep runs or nest areas.
People often confuse pocket gopher mounds with mole mounds. Pocket gophers are rodents and have different feeding habits than moles. Traps designed to catch moles usually will not catch pocket gophers, or vice versa. Therefore, it is important to correctly identify which animal you have in the damage situation. In some areas, both animals exist in the same place.
The pocket gopher does not construct raised ridges or surface tunnels. Pocket gophers dig two kinds of tunnels — one about 5 to 8 inches under the surface and other deeper tunnels that may go down several feet below the surface.
Unlike the mole, the pocket gopher constructs many mounds. These mounds are of finely sifted soil. Sometimes they can be rather large, but most often they contain about one-half gallon of soil. The pocket gopher digs a main tunnel, then a lateral side tunnel to create the mound, thus getting rid of soil accumulated in digging the underground tunnels.

His love of the outdoors is a lifelong passion. Fishing was a natural bent for this boy who was constantly drawn to a fishing pond. His fondness for nature was fostered, as his family moved nearer to the woods and Kirk found himself daily seeking the mysteries of the forest. Having a best friend, whose family owned and operated a Dairy farm, birthed a love for animals in his early teen years. Working closely with this family and living with them during the summer months, increased his desire to someday have his own farm… which is now a dream fulfilled! However, becoming a Trapper, and anything close to resembling, “Beaver Man” was not even on Kirk’s “nature radar” until he was taught by a trapper from Ohio, how to set a Conibear Trap.

Six weeks later, he caught 200 beaver and the “fire was lit” inside him. In January 1996, Kirk discovered that his county had a bounty on beaver. Over the next 90 days, he had trapped 546 beaver. At this same time there were 28 other trappers from the county, with a yearly total (October to May) of 144 Beaver trapped. Therefore, the county contracted Kirk to officially assist with the Roads and Bridges Office, eventually spreading to four other counties.

Kirk quickly became known as, “Beaver Man.” Local residents identified him as a friend who assisted in eliminating their flooding and drainage problems. Adjoining counties recognized his unique talent and also contracted him to trap along their roads and right-of-ways. Now, eleven years later, he has felt compelled to share what he has learned from his experience. It is his desire to help other counties and municipalities to learn ways to control their ever encroaching Beaver population, thus relieving the residents of flooding possibilities, bridge destruction, and hazardous road conditions.

With an extended background in Construction, the Dairy Business, and Farming, this outdoorsman has the ability to see trapping from a different perspective.

Currently holding a Florida General Contractor’s license and a Virginia Class A General Contractor’s License, helps him to assess the damage and ramifications of soil erosion, irrigation issues, timber losses, and road damage. It is Kirk’s desire to help humans and animals co-exist to the good of all mankind

Long Island Rodent Control and Mouse Proofing

The house mouse is one those little pests that seem to be once you mice you will always have more mice. The average treatment plan for mouse control usually starts with either a homeowner buying a few mouse traps and trying do it your self mouse pest control. The problem with self mouse trapping is quickly realized that your home pantry or kitchen is a major attraction and the mice seem to either keep coming .

The second most common method is to pick yup the phone and call the local pest control company that usually offer to put down a few traps and begin a rodenticide eradication program. These pesticides can be hazardous to children, pets, and wildlife. In addition, animals that eat poisoned mice could be poisoned themselves. Poisoned rodents may die inside walls and sub floors where they cannot easily be removed. The slow decomposition of rodents (mice, rats, squirrels..) creates foul odors and attracts other pests, such as flies and beetles.

Given these risks, a safer and more environmentally sensitive strategy is to trap the mice that are already inside and prevent others from entering your home. Mouse-proofing your Long Island home will put a dent in the large reproductive capacity of the house mouse–Since just one female can produce over 40 young each year. Mouse populations in your home can recover quickly, and mouse proofing makes a lot of sense since it is designed to not even allow most mice to ever enter your Long Island home.

Long Island Mouse Proofing

We exclude mice from your Long Island home. W seal all of the mouse points of entry from ground level. We inspect your entire home including your doors. Mice commonly enter houses through open doors. We properly install door sweeps and new weather-stripping.We inspect the garage doors, too. We remind customers never to leave a door propped open since mice are opportunists and often just slip into homes unnoticed.

We repair holes in walls and screens. We inspect and secure sinks, stoves, dishwashers. We seal all plumbing and appliance openings underneath. We seal gaps around water, gas, and heating pipes, heat registers, air ducts, electrical chases, and false ceilings.

We plug up larger gaps around pipes with sheet metal plates, galvanized metal “pipe-chase” covers, paper-backed glue boards, cement, plaster of paris, or mortar.

We inspect vents of sewer pipes, kitchen hoods, furnace ducts, clothes dryers, attic fans, and roofs. If vents are damaged or vulnerable, we replace them or screen them consider screening or replacing it. We inspect the end caps on ridge line vents; which often loosen, providing easy access to attics.

If you are looking for better mouse control call us to start closing up all those gaps, vents and such the mice are using to re-enter and re-infest your home over and over again.

March 5th 2011 – Dunbar, WV – In one of the worst economies since the Great Depression, the USDA – Wildlife Services has been actively taking jobs away from private Nuisance Wildlife Control companies across America – jobs that these companies depend on to take care of their families and run their small business, the lifeblood of the US economy.

In fact, the USDA – Wildlife Services has been providing government subsidized wildlife control for private individuals and commercial companies since 1972. The American Taxpayer has been footing the bill for this agency to do what many private companies are licensed, insured and completely able to do.

In very difficult economic times and unemployment at near all time highs, how could it be possible that you would have to compete with the government as a private company? The challenges of high fuel prices, foreclosures and layoffs have already made business more difficult for any service company, but then the government can come in, under bid you on a project and take it!

This recently happened to our company in my state of West Virginia which has a 10.3% unemployment rate. We were asked to provide a bat remediation proposal to the Fayette County Courthouse. We provided a proposal of $21,000 to reclaim the attic and seal the building. After following up on the bid, we were shocked to find out that the USDA – Wildlife Services was awarded the project for $4000! And the unbelievable part is that the USDA – Wildlife Services is not allowed to compete with or bid against private companies.

The government agency doesn’t have to concern itself with whether they made or lost money on this project as they already are paid a salary.

So, how did they get awarded this project? They simply skirted around the bid proposal process. The county posted the project for two days in two very small newspapers with a circulation of approximately 3500. When no “bids” came in (even though they already had two, one from our company and as well as another company), they hired USDA – Wildlife Services.

In a very bad economy, how does hiring a government agency grow jobs? It doesn’t. It only grows the government. The money from the $4000 project goes back into the government’s accounts and not to the local economy when local companies are not hired. The local company will buy their vehicles, supplies, rent equipment, have meals at local restaurants and require lodging if the project requires travel. This all benefits other local businesses. The private Wildlife Control Company will pay taxes on their equipment, supplies and labor back to the state they live in. The USDA – Wildlife services pays no taxes back to the state they do their work in. They only consume tax dollars.

West Virginia is not the only state plagued by this competition. Every state in the nation has a Wildlife Services division and they all compete for and take work away from each states citizens. States often match funds with Wildlife Services and now the state and federal government are spending money on problems main street business owners could readily solve. This means the U.S. taxpayer is paying for a service that is not necessary and could reduce our government debt if private companies were handling this type of work.

In fact, the budget of the USDA – Wildlife Services has skyrocketed 186% from 1996 – 2009.

This egregious act by the USDA – Wildlife Services is another form of unfair government competition with the private sector. It should be against the law for federal or local governments to compete with any private sector business. If there is a local provider, then they should be sought out. If there is not, then the government could provide technical or advisory assistance. In the end, defunding this agency and allowing licensed, trained and insured local Wildlife Control professionals is in the best interest of the American public.
