Essentially, the NJ legislature passed a law in 2002, which required the attorney general to report whenever "smart gun" technology went on sale in the US. Three years after he so reports, the only handguns that can be sold in NJ will be ones so equipped. The complaint alleges that the technology is now on sale, and seeks an order that the AG file the report. Nevermind that there are major concerns about reliability and safety. If people don't want to rely on such guns, Brady figures, we'll just have to force them to do so.

Ah, "reasonable gun control"! Brady apparently thinks that even New Jersey is "unreasonably mild" on the subject.

“I'm sure I'm going to be sleeping with my - with at least one eye open for awhile," is what Sharon Bente promised ABC following the night she found an eight-foot-long alligator in her Bradenton, Florida swimming pool last Thursday morning.

Ms. Bente explained that she heard what she thought was pool furniture being thrown into her pool around 4:00 am. When she investigated, she found a storm of a different kind: a gator thrashing around in the pool. Bente’s first thought, “Can I get back to the door without it seeing me or realizing I'm bait?”

Fortunately, she did.

She immediately called authorities who quickly trapped and removed the screen-door busting pool party crasher.

"It was quite an evening," Bente said.

Hunters traveling to South Dakota this year may be hard-pressed to see a prairie dog, especially in the southwest parts of the state. The cause is sylvatic plague, and while the plague has been active in the state since as early as 2004, it has now spread as far north as the Fort Pierre National Grassland. The Associated Press reported that the disease is taking a heavy toll on colonies across South Dakota's central prairie. “In the last few years I’ve seen some...

The cost of fighting wildfires will increase by nearly $500 million this year, according to new federal study, bringing the annual total to $1.8 billion—a staggering amount that does not include other tolls on property, wildlife, habitat and humans. With that in mind, the National Shooting Sports Foundation encourages target shooters and hunters to do their part to help prevent wildfires, and offers a poster and audio public service announcement containing prevention guidelines for use throughout this fire season.

The poster encourages firearms owners to know the rules,
