Reminded by the Virginia Tech shootings we all ask ourselves more guns? less guns? Is it a matter of enforcing current laws? Amending old laws? The point of the matter is our 2nd Amendment rights should not be infringed upon. The NRA points us to an article today at wset.com where people believe allowing University staff and students to carry firearms is the way to safer campuses.
Again, I hear the outcries of the anti-gun advocates in the background. But could there have been some lives saved at Virginia Tech if students and Professors were allowed to defend themselves which is clearly spelled out in the U.S. Constitution?
Another thing that comes to mind is 9/11. If pilots and flight attendants were allowed to carry weapons on board could they have prevented the planes from hitting the Twin Towers and the Pentagon? Could lives have been saved using guns? Most agree that it would, as self defense is a God given right.
It will be a very difficult thing to get guns on campus, a breeding ground for anti-hunting and anti-guns groups/individuals.
I think it would be a fantastic idea to allow both administrators and students (who qualify) to carry CCW on campus. Imagine what could have possibly happened in Virginia Tech if one of the students or professors had been armed?
